EOBA Youth Attend Mayor Barbara Lee's Lecture Series

For many of our EOBA Ambassadors, opportunities like this can be truly life-changing.

This past Saturday, a group of our young ambassadors had the honor of supporting the Martin Luther King Freedom Center during the Barbara Lee Lecture Series, featuring Pastor Tony Lowden, the first Black pastor to serve an American president, President Jimmy Carter. Listening to his inspiring message was a powerful experience and a meaningful lesson in leadership, service, and history.

Equally memorable was the opportunity to meet Mayor Barbara Lee. Our ambassadors proudly represented EOBA, engaged in conversation with the Mayor, and received her praise for their outstanding work.

For Black and Brown youth, seeing leaders who look like them matters. Representation expands possibility. As the saying goes, "You can't be what you can't see." We are grateful for opportunities that allow our young people to witness excellence, leadership, and service firsthand. These are the moments that inspire them to dream bigger and believe that they, too, can lead and make a difference in their communities and beyond.
