Community Programs
EOBA is the East Oakland Community
We believe healthy people build healthy families and healthy families create healthy communities. We know families are the root of a person’s support system and we aim to magnify that.
ViaPath Shows Up for East Oakland
ViaPath came to EOBA to see the work firsthand—and jumped right in. Their $15,000 grant supports Future Works, and their team also volunteered during food distribution at EOBA.
EOBA Receives Support from Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation
We were honored to join the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation team at Sprouts in San Leandro for a special check presentation supporting EOBA's food distribution program.
Each Wednesday, EOBA provides food and essential household items to approximately 400 to 500 family members in our community. Families are able to take home fresh produce, dairy products, bread, pantry staples, meat, and other items that help stretch household budgets and put healthy food on the table.
Support from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation helps make this work possible. More than the check itself, we value the relationship behind it. Partnerships like this allow us to continue showing up for families week after week with dignity, care, and consistency.
We are grateful to Sprouts and the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation for believing in this work and investing in the health and well-being of our community. We look forward to continuing to grow this relationship and the impact we can make together.
EOBA was apart of the 2026 Golden State Valkyries 2K Girls Retreat!
We are incredibly grateful to have been invited to collaborate with the Golden State Valkyries and Mentor California for their second annual Girls Retreat. It was a beautiful day in every sense. Perfect weather, great energy, and a welcoming space that truly centered the girls.
Our coaches had the opportunity to sharpen their coaching skills while practicing patience, care, and encouragement as the girls learned boxing basics, often something they had never imagined trying on their own. The Valkyries were, as always, gracious and thoughtful hosts. The girls were treated like absolute queens with yoga sessions, vision board creation, boxing, and plenty of moments that reminded them how valued and supported they are.
It was more than a retreat. It was a space created just for them. We love being out in the community, and we are truly grateful our team was part of this experience. Thank you to the Golden State Valkyries for the invitation, the warmth, and the care you continue to show our girls.
Our Community Programming
By providing community services, we make the community a place where more people can thrive, including our young people. We also provide an example that living a life of wellness is not a selfish endeavor, but requires the connectivity and collaboration of all community members to be successful.
Friday Night Fights
Free Summer Friday Night Events
EOBA hosts a series of free summer Friday evening events — offering safe spaces for community to come together and enjoy food, music, games, and more.
Bringing Community Together
All EOBA events are community-driven and multi-generational, promoting violence prevention and fostering unity.
Family / Community Support
Making Families Part of the Solution
Supporting families enables young people to bring their full selves to EOBA every day and for them to fully benefit from the holistic programming we offer.
Tapping into the Teachers at Home
By making families a part of EOBA, we increase each young person’s chance to truly be transformed and to impart change in others and their environment.
Food Distribution
Working to End a Food Desert
Beautiful buildings alone do not transform struggling communities. Given the right tools, all families and communities have the potential to flourish.
Feeding East Oakland Families
In order to help families weather tough economic times, EOBA distributes healthy groceries through our community food distribution on Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
