Rise East 40×40 Youth Advisory Council Kickoff
Friday night at EOBA, we officially kicked off the Rise East 40x40 Learn and Grow Youth Navigation and Exposure Tours initiative.
Ben Wanzo of ESO Plus showed how our young people will help shape the Youth Navigation App from the ground up.
Gregory Collins and Jalil Butron of YouthBeat shared how youth will lead social media, podcasting, storytelling, video, and community outreach to help spread the word throughout the 40x40.
EOBA also gave everyone a look at how the Youth Loop Exposure Tours will connect young people directly to programs, careers, resources, organizations, and new experiences in their own community.
Our young people are helping build it, test it, tell the story, and lead it.
The community came out, the energy was strong, and Learn and Grow is kicking off with a bang.

Oakland Tech Week Comes to East Oakland
EOBA was proud to bring Oakland Tech Week 2026 to Deep East Oakland on Sunday, September 27.
The event brought together community leaders, technology professionals, and eight youth panelists from the Rise East 40x40 Youth Advisory Council to discuss technology, access, and the future of their community.
The youth shared their experiences helping build the Rise East 40x40 Youth Navigation and Exposure App, including its focus on accessibility, opportunities, mental health awareness, college and career support, and resources for young people.
The conversation centered young people as builders and decision-makers, highlighting the importance of creating technology with the community it is designed to serve.
