Vote for our Honorees
Thank you for helping us recognize individuals and organizations making a real impact in Oakland.
The Stanley Garcia Community Service Awards honor those who reflect EOBA’s commitment to community, opportunity, and empowerment.
Each of this year’s nominees has made meaningful contributions not only to the broader Oakland community, but also in connection with EOBA and the people we serve.
Please review the nominees below and select the TWO you believe should be honored this year.
Empowering voters and strengthening civic engagement across Oakland.
Through a four-week Democracy Training Camp hosted at EOBA, participants build the knowledge and confidence to become informed, registered voters who understand their rights and role in shaping their community — especially at a time when voter disenfranchisement remains a critical issue.
Creating pathways to meaningful employment through inclusive workforce solutions.
K&K Empathway Design partners with organizations and communities to design inclusive workforce solutions that connect more people to sustainable, meaningful employment. Their work supports both emerging talent and nonprofits like EOBA by strengthening capacity while creating real, paid work experience.
Providing critical support and services to immigrant and underserved families.
Lao Family Community Development plays a vital role in helping families navigate employment, housing, and essential services in an increasingly complex environment. Their work has supported countless families in Oakland, including those connected to EOBA, creating stability and opportunity across generations.
