East Oakland Boxing Association - Smartmoves

East Oakland Boxing Association/ Smartmoves Education and Art Program WE WISH UPON A STAR for the following:

Immediate Needs Include:
 Digital sign for the program to increase community awareness of program and activities. $2,500.00
 Funding for Gas lines to install heaters- $5,000.00
 Funding for youth field trips. We strive to take youth to places in the Bay Area that they have never seen (most of the youth have never been out of Oakland! Past trips include Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, camping, art museums, poetry slams, Lake Temescal, the movies, trapeze school, farms visits, theater trips, Shadow Cliffs, eight day intensive backcountry camping trips, ice skating, etc)- $7,000.00.
 Van, auto, and charter bus rental- $2,500
 Van for transporting youth to and from field trips and workshops- $22,000
 Funding for operational and program expenses
 Program Materials Expenses for Art, Health and Nutrition, Cooking, Organic Gardening, College and Career Center, Building and Welding, Physical Education- $25,000 (see below for specific materials)
 Youth internship program- 10 teenaged program youth whom have exhibited a high level of responsibility are given intensive on-going job training and supervision. These youth get paid a monthly stipend and have the opportunity to go on special field trips. - $7,000.00

Facility and Building Needs
 New building- Our goal is to raise $850,000.00 for a new and more appropriate facility for the Smartmoves Education Program. We currently have architectural renderings and hope to raise enough funds to start the rebuilding project by 2010.
 Restore the roof on the Smartmoves- $30,000
 Restore wall on Smartmoves Education facility- $5,000
 Outdoor lighting
 Digital sign for the program so that we can let the community know about upcoming events and program dates as well as to improve the visibility of the program. $1,000  

Garden Needs
 Landscaping/ Redevelopment of Garden for better use of space (see general plan)
 Trees/ Bushes/ Plants/ Mulch- Native Plant
 Stone/ Cement pathways
 Garden Supplies such as shovels, rakes, picks, soil, lumber, soaker hoses
 A highly securable tool shed
 Reading Circle and Picnic Area
 Cob stove project- $2,500.00 (this will be used for our cooking and pottery classes.

Direct Program Needs
 Digital camera with video and sound for program- $600
 Floor fans- 3 at $50 each
 Sewing machines- 2 at $100.00
 Silk screening materials- $3,100 for a whole silk screening studio for our youth entrepreneur program
 Paint brushes- $25
 Photo enlarger- $50 used
 Dark room chemicals- developer, stop, fix-$100
 Picture Frames for youth art projects- $250.00
 Cooking materials such as food, supplies $3,000 for a year of cooking class supplies.
 Educational materials such as workbooks, paper, pencils, crayons, markers.- $1000 for the after-school program and $1000 for the summer program
 Art books- $100
 Clay and pottery supplies- $300 (someone just recently donated two kick wheels for our pottery class)
 Culturally relevant books and materials- $200
 Microphone/Stand-$75 used or $150 new
 PA system-$300 used
 Plants- $100.00 for seasonal plant starts
 Soil
 MONEY for programming

OTHER NEEDS
 New and used clothing for program participants and community members. The EOBA Smartmoves Program distributes food once a month to the greater community. We like to be able to provide clothing such as jackets, rain jackets, shirts, shoes, socks, etc. for those individuals in need of clothing.
 School supplies such as paper, pencils, pens, back packs, binders, rulers, etc.
 Snacks.
