The Youth Leadership and Development Program is geared to guide youth toward becoming contributing members and leaders in their communities. Participants at the EOBA including aging or aged out youth of the SmartMoves Program and youth participating in the Physical Education Program (or the gym) are example participants for the Youth Leadership and Development Program. In the last seven years the EOBA’s Youth Internship and Leadership Development Program has developed into a comprehensive program focusing on integrating aspects of education, leadership, and community service with career development including Green Jobs Training.
A.W.A.K.E.
A.W.A.K.E. is geared towards youth whom are current participants aged 14-20 of EOBA’s Physical Education Program and will help guide youth to succeed in school, develop self esteem, develop leadership roles and learn valuable life skills so they can be respectful, productive and responsible individuals. The benefits of the A.W.A.K.E Program include additional training hours, martial arts instruction, field trips and offsite trainings, and support such as tutoring, job referrals, and life skills.

Aspiring Youth Intern Program is geared toward youth whom are current participants aged 10-13 of EOBA’s SmartMoves Program and is a volunteer based program, designed to prepare youth for the STARS or A.W.A.K.E . Programs. Youth can actively participate in the AYI program for a maximum of three years, however in order to participate in the STAR and A.W., youth MUST actively participate in the AYI program for at least one year and have a written recommendation from EOBA Program Director. A prospective AYI is someone who demonstrates the ability to become a youth intern.  The goal of the AYI program is to assist youth participants in developing proper work ethic and conduct and to introduce them to the fundamentals of community -based programming. The Aspiring Youth Internship program is a non paid position; AYI’s are compensated for their efforts through incentives, where they can earn points towards pizza parties, ice cream parties, small field trips and gift cards.
Sustainable Trainings and Real-world Standards Program (STARS)  is geared towards current EOBA participants aged 14-18 who have successfully completed the Aspiring Youth Intern Program. The Senior Leadership Program was developed to provide youth with hope, opportunity and empowerment. Under the mentoring and guidance of the Youth Internship Coordinator, Program Directors and Partners, the youth are held accountable for their actions and required to perform nothing less than their absolute best.  Upon exiting this program youth will have been introduced to a variety of fields and will proudly display great character, leadership qualities, academic excellence, self-worth,  a high sense of morale, exemplary work ethic, the will to go above and beyond the expectations and lifetime community service advocates.  The youth will be able to succeed in multiple areas of the work world.  Life skills’ training includes topics such as:  Green Technology, Budgeting and Cost Control, Menu Planning, Gourmet Cooking, Organic Gardening, Public Speaking, Grant-Writing, Curriculum Development, Graphic Design, Small Business Management, and Project Management.
